The Almabtrieb is a traditional event in the Alps where livestock, which has spent the summer on mountain pastures, is festively decorated and led back to the valley in the autumn. This tradition is often celebrated with regional festivals, music, and customs. The Almabtrieb symbolizes the end of the alpine summer and is a way to give thanks for a safe summer.

The following Almabtrieb events are scheduled for autumn 2024:

  September 21, 2024, in the town center, starting at 10 AM

• Almabtrieb in Stumm
  September 28, 2024, at the swimming pool parking lot in Stumm, starting at 10 AM

• Huamfohrerfestl
  September 28, 2024, at Oberhubenhof (near Pankrazberger Church), starting at 10 AM

• Almabtrieb in Hart
  October 5, 2024, at Moarhof, starting at 11 AM

• Gasteighof in Kapfing
  October 6, 2024, starting at 10 AM

In autumn, mountain railways transport hikers comfortably to the summits and offer breathtaking views of the colorful Alpine landscape. They are the perfect starting point for hikes or simply to enjoy the fresh mountain air and autumnal nature.

The following mountain railways will remain open in autumn 2024:

• Gerlossteinbahn, Heinzenberg (until October 20)
• Isskogelbahn, Gerlos (until October 13)
• Penkenbahn, Mayrhofen (until October 6)
• Ahornbahn, Mayrhofen (until October 31)
• Rofanseilbahn, Maurach (until November 3)
• Karwendelbahn, Pertisau (until November 3)

Cycling in the Zillertal in autumn is a highlight for nature lovers. Whether it's leisurely trips in the valley or challenging mountain routes, the Zillertal offers suitable paths for every level. Additionally, Natürlich Hell is located right on the Zillertal bike path. Don’t want to bring your own bikes? We have two e-bikes on site, and the nearest bike rental in Fügen (Zillerbike) is just a 10-minute walk away.
